The Government continues to tie ends for the elaboration of its defense strategy for the international arbitration dispute that Equatorial Guinea faces with the company Shefa Gold, which claims US$1 billion from the Equatoguinean state.
To this end, the Government has composed a commission led by one president and four vice-presidents. As members of it, the representatives of the State's law and legal affairs, the technicians and lawyers of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons, so the

legal documentation for the case.
The Executive takes this action after the lawsuit filed by Shefa Gold. The company was engaged in the exploration and production of gold in the Mongomo and Akonibe areas without the proper authorization of the Government. And last year 2024, she was denounced for breach of tax obligations.
Despite the attempts of the Vice President of the Republic to find a friendly solution, the firm filed a lawsuit against the State claiming a compensation of one billion US dollars.
As a result of this situation, the Equatoguinean authorities adopt strategies with the composition of a legal commission to protect the interests of the State.
