STATUS REPORT REGARDING SERVICE OF PROCESS

1. Petitioner files this status report to update the Court on the status of Petitioner’s efforts to serve Respondent, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Venezuela).

2. Petitioner commenced this action on June 20, 2018. Because Venezuela is a State, Petitioner is required to effect service in the manner prescribed by the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act. See 28 U.S.C. §1608(a). Accordingly, on July 27, 2018, Petitioner sent to Respondent all materials required to effect service under the Convention of 15 November 1965 on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters (Hague Service Convention). See 28 U.S.C. § 1608(a)(2). Venezuela’s Central Authority received those materials on August 3, 2018.

3. Pursuant to the Hague Service Convention, Venezuela’s Central Authority is required to return a completed certificate of service to Petitioner once service has been effected. We have inquired about the status of service, but have yet to receive a response or a completed certificate of service.

4. Once service has been effected, Petitioner will promptly inform the Court.
